2D stress analysis: The stress plane must be on XY plane. New co-ordinate system can be defined anyt ime.

To start the plane stress analysis; go to: Applications ==> Mechanica ==> Advanc ed ==> 2D with finite thinkness. Shell must be used ==> Go to insert ==> Shell ==> define thickness, surface, and material. If we need to optimize the thickness, it must be defined as a parameter. Parameters can be defined in plane stress from Tools ==> Parameters Since symetry is used, reactions must be defined at the symetry plane, or constr ained can be defined, and as a general rule: the movement along the plane symetr y is free, and perpendicular to the plane is fixed. A part with different materials can be used, go to Insert ==> Geometry region wh ich takes you to sketcher, and you have to draw a splitting geometry. the shell must be redefined, changing the surface, the material.. etc. ==================================================== Axisymetric solids: In drawing, the 2D plane to be analyzed must be on the datum plane (such as fron t or top) and the Y-Axis, must be on the geometric centerline (from revolve) ATTENTION MUST BE BROUGHT TO : 2D PLANE STRESS: THE PIECE HAS NEGLIGIBLE THICKNESS. 2D PLANE STRAIN: THE PIECE HAS INFINITE THICKNESS. ASSYEMTRIC SOLID: THE PIECE IS REVOLVED AROUND Y-AXIS ONLY...... SO BE CAREFUL W HILE CHOOSING THE TYPE OF 2D ANALYSIS. In an axissymetric solid, we don't need to define constraints on the axis of sym etry. To concentrate on FILLET analysis: we go to AutoGEM ==> check the detailed fille t modeling. To see where the polynomial diverges go to from result window ==> Edit ==> fring e ==> P-level To change the mesh of a certian fillet or any edge: go to AutoGEM ==> Type ==> E dge distribution
