1. I) Item analysis is a process which examines student responses to individual test items (questions) in order to assess the quality of those items and of the test as a whole. Item analysis is especially valuable in improving items which will be used again in later tests, but it can also be used to eliminate ambiguous or misleading items in a single test administration. II) Difficulty index is a measurement of the theoretical difficulty of performing an aiming movement. It also is a measure of the percentage of incorrect responses determined by dividing the number getting the item wrong by the number who tried the item. Used to establish how difficult an item was for the group who took the test. III) Discrimination index is an index that indicates how well an item distinguishes between the students who understand the content being assessed and those who do not. Positive discrimination indicates that the item or task is discriminating in the same way as the assessment method of which it is a part. b) Item analysis is valuable for increasing instructors' skills in test construction, and identifying specific areas of course content which need greater emphasis or clarity. 2.
