Tutorial Question: Due to the oil price hike in recent year, biofuel has been introduced to ease the

dependence of fossil fuel. However, this has been an issue arising from the impact of supply. What is your opinion in support/ against the use of biofuel? Advantages of Biofuel

1. The biofuel is the green friendly fuel which can help you to reduce the rising levels of greenhouse caused by the oil. 2. The biofuels can be made from different sources like plants, algae and fungi. All these sources are available in abundance therefore biofuel can be produced on massive scale. 3. The biofuel will help us to reduce the dependence on OPEC and other foreign countries for energy needs and will help to bring world peace. 4. The biofuels can help to reduce the global warming and it can also contribute in the global economy. The biofuels are much safer to handle as compared to gasoline. The health effects are also much lesser as compared to fossil fuels.
Disadvantages of Biofuel

1. There might be some problem of carbon emission from machines which are used to cultivate and produce biofuels. 2. Lots of cost required to produce biofuels on technological processes. 3. There might be bad smell which is the outcome of the biofuel production cycle. 4. There might be need to change the infrastructure of automobile to take the advantage of this natural fuel which requires lots of money. 5. There require large amount of energy to grow the crops and convert them into fuel. 6. Possibility of animals loses their habitats as more and more land will be used for biofuels production. 7. Massive quantities of water are used for irrigation of biofuel crops, and this could lead to water shortage problem. In my opinion, the use of biofuel has to be encouraged as to replace our daily dependency on fossil fuels. The use of fossil fuel is harmful to environment and it is a threat to human. Besides that, the scare supply of fossil fuels also nudges for the development of alternative resources. Albeit there is pro and cons in adopting biofuel, but further study and deep research have to be carried out to mitigate the drawbacks of biofuel.
