Beach West Maui Benefit Fund. 2042 Introduction of the workshop directors and facilitators (Aubrey) Workshop liaison: Lance Collins Workshop facilitators: Aubrey Yee, Rex Troumbley, Scott Yim, John Sweeney, Seong Won Park Expectations for the course (Aubrey) Introduction of participants 8:45am Introduction to Futures thinking (John Sweeney) Futures plural (past, present, what is the future), driving forces of change, the specific variable expressed by the board (future of the ocean, reef, natural beauty, marine life, shoreline, dunes, parks, open spaces, roadways, Hawaiian cultural sites and practice and recreational facilities.) Questions and discussion on these ideas as a large group 9:30am Visioning Presentation (Aubrey Yee) Why is visioning important. How does it help strategic planning. 3-5 minute activity as a large group 9:45am Divide into (2) groups to discuss commonalities among individual visions Create vision statement keeping in mind three questions Who is responsible for this vision? What are the resources necessary to make this vision a reality? Who benefits from this vision? 10:45am Report back to the larger group 11:00am Break with snacks and drinks 11:15am Timeline exercise in same (2) small groups. What are the events from the past and present that are pushing our

futures? 12:00pm Report back to larger group 12:30pm Lunch 1:30pm Emerging issues/Trends presentation (Scott Yim) Present the trend of each of the driving forces (ie. a growing and aging population ect.) What are possible emerging issues coming from this trend? 1:45pm (2) Small group Emerging issues/Trends exercise Futures Wheels activity mapping primary and secondary order effects 2:30pm Report back to larger group 2:45pm Evaluation of old visions Create a story for each of the 2 groups visions while they are in small groups 3:45pm Break coffee 4:00pm Report back to large group Questions and discussion of visions 4:15pm Evaluation 2 of old visions that reflect comments and feedback from other groups. 4:45pm Moving forward (Seong Won) What is the first step you will take on Monday to realize this vision? 5:00pm Evaluation Closing remarks and Thank you to the participants.
