Neuberger 26 March, 2012 Survivor Testimony The first of the two survivor testimonies I watched was dated July 31, 1997. The Survivor was a man named Alfred Caro. He was born in Samter Germany, but grew up in Berlin. He was only in a camp for 6 weeks. By shear luck his mother met with a high commanding officer you happened to be a young man that lived down the street from their family in Berlin, who had spend a large amount of time at their house growing up. This man was able to have him released onto a train to Belgium, where he met with an organization called Hicem who transported him to Paris. When he boarded the train he said goodbye to his family. He doesnt say it but from the way he started to cry I believe he never saw any of them again. After he arrived in Belgium he commented that they did not want him there, and thats when he received the order to go to Paris. However, in Paris they werent always taking Jews in, and when they did not need them they were deported and he ended up being sent to Colombia. I was surprised to hear that before the holocaust started, Alfred Caro was an amateur welter weight boxer, and competed against many other gyms in Berlin. I goodbye said to all of my family.(Caro)
