Republic,
Capitalist, Monarchy or Revolutionary by going to your Edit My Nation page. Change your National Religion to what your citizens want (if necessary) by going to your Edit My Nation page.
Purchases:
Land, Tech and Infra all jump in price at particular levels of purchase (always exactly at a whole number of levels). The price for Infra jumps at 20 levels as well as many others including 1000 levels, so it is recommended to always keep 0.01, 0.001 or 0.0000000001 infra less than a whole level to ensure that you have 19.99, 19.999 or 19.9999999999 infra instead of 20 infra. For Tech, keep 0.5 levels below the next highest multiple of 10 levels, e.g. 49.5 levels or 199.5 levels, unless if you need a certain amount of tech to purchase planes, navy vessels or wonders.
Do not buy Land. Do not buy Tech. Land and tech will be purchased on the day of collection (possibly Day 3).
Do not buy infra if you have not been placed in a fully confirmed Trade Circle (see the end of this guide for more details).
Buy 98.99 infra //99.99 infra total The citizens from the 99.99 infra should allow you to buy your first improvement. Buy a harbor here.
Contact Einner (TPC) here on in #tpc-te (IRC) should you want to join a trade circle.
Trades may be hard to get, however they are what put you at the top of the pile, increasing your future collections and reducing your future payments. If you arent interested in trade circles, the video found here (to be watched in HD, maximised) shows you how to efficiently search for separate trade offers actively.
