May 27 : Pilot production of santro at plants begins within a record 17th months of ground braking. Sept 23: Hyundai santro (Atos Prime) makes its world debut in India.

1999
March 31 : Hyundai motor India Ltd. Emerges as the 2nd largest Auto maker in the country.

2000
April 27: 100000th car rolls out from the Chennai plant in just 19 months of since commencement of operation. May 8: Launch of Santro Zip Drive. Nov 29: Rolls out 150000th car from Chennai Plant in just 25 months.

2001
July 11: Hyundai Motor India Ltd. Introduces new look of santro. Nov 22: Santro ranked No.1 in JD Power Asia Pacific 2001 initial quality study

2002
March 18: Global launch of 1.1 litre E-Epsilon engine on the new santro zip plus. Sept 6 : Santro Automatic Transmission Launched.

2003
May 22: Hyundai Motor India Ltd. Launches Santro Xing the Global small car.

August 12: Export shipment of 1500 Santro Xing leaves for Europe. HMI becomes small cars export hub for HMC.

2004
March : Santro crossed the figure of 100000th sales in terms of annual sale. The 1st Indian car to do so in the segment. Sept 10 : Hyundai Getz launched.

2005
June 8: HMIL launched 3 new variants of Santro Xing with eRLX technology (Xk-non AC, XK,XL). August 18: HMIL introduced export variant of its premium hatchback Getz in the Indian market Getz GLE.

2006
November: Santro crosses the million mark.

2007
March 26: HMIL ships out the 1st Getz. April 2 July 4 Sept : Launch of Getz prime. : Launch of Santro Xing CNG version. : Launch of Getz CRDi.

October : Launch of Hyundai i10.

2008
Feb 2 : Inaugration of 2nd Plant in Chennai. Sept 30: Hyundai launches the dual fuel Santro Eco. Dec 29: Hyundai launches the premium hatchback i20 in India.

2009
April 6 : Hyundai enters Taxi segment in Mumbai. Hands over its 1st batch of its best selling model the Santro to Mumbai taxi Union.

July 7 : HMIL launches 1.4 litre diesel & 1.2 litre petrol variants of its premium hatchback i20. Sept 2: HMIL launched the new Santro with dual tone beige interiors & sporty exteriors.

2010
Sept 23: Launch of the all New Next Gen i10. Nov 10 : Hyundai i20 crosses landmark sales of 2.5 lakhs units.

2011
Oct 13 : Hyundai launched the stupendously awaited small car Hyundai EON in India.
