Time is limited Individuals/Group lack skill & knowledge Group does not know each other

AUTOCRATIC
INEFFECTIVE WHEN:

Developing a strong sense of team is goal Members have some degree of skill/knowledge Group wants an element of spontaneity in their work

DEMOCRATIC
If its got to be, its up to us!

CHARACTERISTICS Involves group members in planning and carrying out activities Asks before tells Promotes the sense of teamwork

DEMOCRATIC
EFFECTIVE WHEN:

Time is available Group is motivated &/or a sense of team exists Some degree of skill or knowledge among members of group

DEMOCRATIC
INEFFECTIVE WHEN:

Group is unmotivated Members have little skill / knowledge High degree of conflict present

AMIABLE / LAISSEZ-FAIRE

Values friends before any job that needs to be done Hates to cause conflicts and will avoid dissension at all costs

Analytical

Logically analyzes problems and solutions Very intelligent Sometimes has trouble completing the decision-making process

Expressive

Friendly, charismatic and a super salesman Great persuasive powers strong communicator Often has trouble following through on all the jobs he/she has promised

DRIVER

Goal driven leader who values the job over the people who play an integral part in his/her success Gets job done by pushing and prodding Often makes others resistant because of the overpowering behavior
