Position: Clinical Research Coordinator Intern (Unpaid Summer Internship) Department: Department of Health Evidence & Policy Mt. Sinai School of Medicine Reports to: Project Manager Hours: Part-Time, 15-20 hours a week Start Date: May 2012 End Date: August 2012 Position Summary: This position requires a motivated self-starter to assist with one of the projects within the Department of Health Evidence and Policy. The project involves a diabetes prevention research project in East Harlem, New York City. The study uses community-based participatory approaches to recruit overweight teens ages 14-18 with pre-diabetes into a study testing the impact of peer-led group education on weight loss. Responsibilities: Correspond with study participants to schedule appointments Assist with the development of survey tool and outreach materials Survey participants with a food and exercise questionnaire Assist with data entry Additional duties as assigned by supervisor Qualifications: Commit to work at least one weekend day per week Senior Undergraduates are welcomed to apply. Bachelors Degree preferred. PostBaccalaureate, public health, and medical students a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. Excellent written and verbal skills. Strong computer skills. Excellent organizational ability, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with a diverse population in an urban setting. Previous experience in clinical research a plus
