Langston to Seek Re-Election Linda Langston announced her re-election campaign today for a third full term. She was first elected to office in November 2002. She was re-elected in 2006. In 2008 she ran again after Linn County moved to five supervisors elected by district. Langston currently serves in District 2 which encompasses portions of the southwest and southeast sides of Cedar Rapids, as well as College Township. Langston served as Chair of the Board of Supervisors during the floods in 2008 and again was chair in 2010 as significant efforts in flood recovery were underway. Langston said, It has been a pleasure to work with my colleagues on restoring the infrastructure of Linn County over the last four years. We are almost complete with our flood recovery efforts and I think the county has been very successful in its re-building. Langston noted that the present Board of Supervisors has done an excellent job of working together on a variety of efforts from flood recovery, to legislative issues including mental health reform, budgeting for outcomes and advancing technology. She said, I am committed to finding the most effective ways to improve government operations through the use of technology. I also recognize that we must work collaboratively with other governments to serve the people of Linn County. Mental health reform will be a big agenda item going forward and I am committed to working with our state legislators on mental health reform and re-design. Langston has served for the last three years on the statewide Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Commission. Other issues continue to be important to Linn County including transportation and workforce development. Jobs and supporting economic development continue to be an important issue for all citizens and I look forward to working with all the members of the Board to make Linn County the best it can be. Langston also serves as the Chair of the East Central Iowa Council of Governments and as the 2nd Vice President of the National Association of Counties, as well as several other boards and commission..
