BALANCING OF ROTATING & RECIPROCATING MASSES

I want to develop a GUI using matlab which will have two sections, one to balance rotating mass and other to balance reciprocating mass.

BALANCING OF ROTATING MASSES

INPUT1. Masses are in a single plane (static balancing) or in different planes (dynamic balancing). 2. Magnitudes of maases 3. Radius of rotation of masses. 4. Angles between successive masses. OUTPUT1. Position & magnitude of balanced mass required. 2. Its radius of rotation APPROACH1. Find out the centrifugal force exerted by each mass on the rotating shaft 2. Resolve the centrifugallu forces horizontally and vertically and find their sums i.e.

and

V
2 2

3. Find magnitude of resultant centrifugal force Fc = 4. If is the angle which the resultant force makes with the horizontal, then V tan = H 5. The balancing force is equal to the resultant force but in opposite direction. 6. Magnitude of balancing mass can be find out from FC =mr, where m = balancing mass r= its radius of rotation

( H ) + ( V )

PARTIAL BALANCING OF RECIPROCATING MASSES OF TWO CYLINDER LOCOMOTIVE

INPUT1. Angle between cranks 2. Reciprocating mass per cylinder 3. Rotating mass per cylinder 4. Distance between cylinder centre line 5. Distance between wheel centre line 6. The percentage of reciprocating mass to be balance 7. Radius of balanced mass 8. Crank radius 9. Crank speed 10. Stroke length 11. Axle rotation OUTPUT1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Magnitude of the balanced mass Direction of the balanced mass Variation of tractive effort Magnitude of swaying couple Hammer blow per wheel Fluctuation in rail pressure under one wheel
