Accident Procedure
Stop, Park Safely, Switch Off Turn on Hazards Check for Injuries, get / ask for Assistance Organise Emergency Services Contact Traffic Control Evacuate only if necessary

Contact nearest Depot. Obtain Witnesses Make Sketch / Take Details / Use Camera Give Details / Statements Fill in an Accident Report Form

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT


Put the customers first be friendly, try to put them at ease. Take full details of others involved. Give your name, depot address and vehicle details to other parties involved. Obtain witness details. Complete a scene of action card. If necessary call the police. Contact your home depot as quickly as possible. DO NOT:

Admit Liability Make a statement to the police whilst upset or in a state of shock Visit any other person involved Discuss the matter with any other person involved Talk to the press

You have 24 hours to make a statement at a nominated Police Station If the Police approach you at the scene you have the right to say no
Remember you may be in shock or feel unwell, it is usually in your best interests to wait

Legally you must report accidents Reporting Accidents under the following circumstances;

All accidents where full particulars are not exchanged Any accident resulting in an injury Accidents involving animals if the owner cannot be contacted within 24 hours A full statement will not always be necessary

Personal injury must be reported in the accident book situated in your depot. This is for your benefit All accidents must be reported and an accident report form filled out and given to your depot supervisor ASAP If you fail to report an accident it may result in summary dismissal
