AREVA Solars Superheated Steam Technology

AREVA Solars Superheated Steam Technology

AREVA Solar designs, manufactures, installs and operates mid- to largescale solar steam generators for customers around the world. The core technology is simple, reliable and scalable. Using groups of long rows of flat mirrors individually tracking the sun, the Compact Linear Fresnel Reflector (CLFR) solar collector focuses the suns energy onto elevated tubes containing flowing water. The concentrated sunlight boils the water in the tubes, generating high pressure steam that drives conventional turbine generators for: Producing electricity for standalone solar and solar/natural gas hybrid power plants; Augmenting electricity for existing fossil-fired power plants; and Generating steam for industrial steam applications, including food processing, enhanced oil recovery and mining. This flexibility in size and function also works well in proposed energy park concepts, where a mix of energy sourcessolar, wind, biomass, nuclearperform together to optimize CO2-free energy generation.
Reflected sunlight from 13 rows of mirrors generates up to 750F steam at the Kimberlina solar plant in California.

By combining business strength and proven solar technology, AREVA is positioned to become the global leader in concentrated solar power solutions.
