Boxing!

Two men or women throw punches at each other til one is

Knocked out TKO (Ref decides) Surrender Taking a punch (Impulse) Following through (Inertia) Using your body (Leverage) Bulking up (Kinetic Energy)

Physics can give you a HUGE advantage!

Taking a Punch

All about timing

Spread out the impact over time Force spread over time? Impulse! I=Ft Go with the punch, more t, less F.

Following Through

More bang for your buck

If you follow through, it will transfer more force The fist will keep going, until the face stops it At that point, the fist slows, and the face begins to accelerate in the same direction as the fist. Follows all of Newton's Laws.

Using your body

You can use your arm as a type 3 lever

Fulcrum at one end, load at other Fulcrum at shoulder Shoulders Back Legs

This adds to the lever system of

Multiplies force for greater punch.

Bulking Up

More mass in your arm

Speed is faster Hurts your opponent more.

Influences KE equation
