About Marysville
Marysville, the county seat of Union County, Ohio, was originally laid out in 1820, with he first permanent settlement being made by Abraham Amrine in 1817. In 1824, the first post office was established. At this time, there were only four families in the village. In 1828, a log cabin on the east side of town was the first school. By 1839, there were three schools. In 1843, the first high school was opened by Caroline Humphrey Today Marysville is a city with a population of over 22,000 people, having grown substantial since the 1980s. In 2006, Marysville was named one of the best five hometowns in Ohio by Ohio Magazine. The City prides itself upon a rich heritage, conservative family values, and a populous with an unparalleled work ethic. With its strong corporate and business base and
its continual growth and development, Marysville is a great place to call home.
Industry
Marysville Auto Plant has been the leading producer of the Honda Accord since 1982. Production of the current generation Acura TL has been based in Marysville since 2003.
Marysville is home to major research and development operations. In 1868 Scotts Miracle Gro was founded by Orlando Scott in Marysville. Scotts, the largest producer in the world of horticulture products, has their R&D operations and corporate headquarters in Marysville. In 1948, Nestle USA opened a research and development center in Marysville. Nestl is located on the west side of the city, and in recent years improved their facilities with a modern, multi-million dollar makeover. Hondas first production facilities opened the United States were the Marysville Motorcycle Plant (1979) and the Marysville Auto Plant (1982). The
