The traditional Portuguese music is varied.

They are part of folklore the danas do vira, the pauliteiros, los corrindinhos and bailinhos. The pauliteiros is the name given to a group of men dancing traditional rhythms of the Tierra de Miranda (Portugal). The best know style of music is the Portuguese fado whose mast famous perfomer was Amalia Rodriguez. The fado Fado is the most internationally famous form of Portuguese music. In fado you express the bad times of life through songs. They are usually sung by one person, acompanied by the viola and the Portuguese guitar. The most typical themes are melancholy , notalgia but especially fatalism and frustation.

Typical instruments are the cavaquinho, bagpipes , accordions , violins , drums , the Portuguese guitar and a variety of wind and percussion instrument.
