TIPS

1. DO NOT DRINK WATER UNLESS ITS IN A BOTTLE OR BOILED. a. I mean honestly, its like a couple extra cents for a bottle of water. b. Personally, when I brush my teeth I dont use the tap water I usually use bottled water or water that I boiled in the morning or the night before and left out to cool, because yes obviously no one drinks spit toothpaste water but like some might accidently be swallowed and thatd suck. c. Be careful of ice. 2. Try not to eat anything raw. Seriously sashimi is for Japan and Vancouver. Ditto for fruits. Chances are they are washed in the water that hasnt been boiled plus fruit grows in the ground and you really dont want to know whats on China ground. Same for salad. Youre in China, seriously if its raw just dont put it in your mouth. 3. Avoid stalls that reuse like chopsticks and stuff because you have no idea where it has been. 4. Avoid the sketchy people selling you stuff doesnt matter if its dirt cheap, if it is, its probably because half of it is made from the dirt. 5. Street food if theres a lot of people chances are it probably tastes pretty awesome and it wont kill you. But you know, use your judgement, if it looks like road kill, Id probably not eat it. 6. Sometimes hype is just hype. Just because the stall is plastered with newspapers saying how awesome this stall is, doesnt always mean that its that great, so if it looks like the place is chock full of tourists, youre probably not getting the most authentic experience. (youre also probably getting majorly ripped off) a. Dont put your wallet in your ass pocket. Put it near your heart or your crotch or somewhere where you will definitely feel it because pickpockets will slice your pants from the back to steal your shit. 7. FUCKING BEST PEKING DUCK YOU WILL EVER CONSUME a. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quanjude 8. Ignore people who walk up to you trying to sell crap to you, they are either a. Distracting you while someone robs you b. Ripping you off 9. DO THINGS THE LEGIT WAY. Yes, waiting in line sucks, but seriously if you dont and you succumb to people offering you a shortcut youre probably going to be short a lot of cash, and a kidney. 10. READ CHINESE, or at least try to pretend to. There are Chinese people prices and tourist prices in a lot of places in China so just keep your head up and read numbers. Always pay the smaller number LOL. EVEN FOR FOOD!!!!! (Especially for food)
