The following works of art by Robert Aldern were chosen to be produced as Fine Art Giclée Prints. 3301 Girard Avenue South
The majority are from the personal collection of the artist. Originals from his private collection are Minneapolis, MN 55408
rarely offered for sale. Over the years, many who have collected his work have requested reproductions
of these pieces. Included in this price listing are limited printings of liturgical studies, landscapes and tel: 612 827-2181

What is a Giclée Print? Graphic Design

Giclée (pronounced “zheeclay”) is a French word meaning “fine spray”. Giclée prints are produced Art Reproductions
by spraying the image in a continuous tone on to fine art paper, eliminating the halftoning used in Teaching & Workshops
mass production methods and increasing the detail and quality to a level that far surpasses previous Original Artwork
technology. The inks used are specially formulated so that fine print heads can spray jets of ink in Strategy & Consulting
minute droplets. Each proof is calibrated to the color of the original artwork and is reviewed and
approved by the artist. The paper is acid-free, 100 percent cotton rag, Radiant White Somerset Velvet.
The velvet surface allows for rich detail and accuracy. The inkset is Ultrachrome 7-color archival
pigment inks, designed to achieve maximum color range and archival stability. The prints are produced
at Kretzmann Studios, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
What does “Limited Fine Art” mean?

The size offered of each print, in the form it is printed, is limited to a total quantity of 200 to 500.
The prints are overseen by the artist and printed by a master printer in quantities of 1 to 5 at each
printing. This enables the color to be matched to the original as the artist intended.
While Parkinson’s Disease has presented challenges for Aldern, he continues to create new paintings
and a few select commissions. His studio is located on the campus of Augustana College, Sioux Falls,
SD, where he serves as Artist-in-Residence.

Note Cards
Not all the artwork is available on note cards. Please look for the code - “NC” - on the price list. This
indicates a note card is available. There may be minimum quantities required. Note cards are available

Giclée Prints may be purchased through Tres Gatos Inc., a studio owned and operated by Noreen
Aldern Groethe, daughter of the artist. There are no minimums.
