FACTORS INFLUENCE THE RATE OF A CHEMICAL REACTION

Purpose : To know influnce that cause the rate of a chemical reaction surface are, temperature, and catalyst Hypothesa : More broad this concentration, surface area, and temperature, thus more large thats rate of chemical reaction. Tools & Ingridients : 1. Test tube 2. Stopwatch 3. Spyrtus 4. Burner of spyrtus 5. Thermometer 6. Stirring Spoon 7. Measure Glass 8. Paper with X mark 9. Cloride Acid (HCl) [ 0,1 M ; 0,5 M ; 1 M ] 10. Magnesium Ribbon (Mg) [ 3 ] 11. Calsium Carbonate (CaCO3) [ Powder ; Crystal ] 12. Na2S2O3 [ 25 mL ] Working Way: I. The Concentration 1. Cut of magnesium ribbon ( 2 cm ) 2. Put Mg in 3 tube in various concentration of HCl solution 3. First test tube is filled HCl solution 0,1 M ; The second test tube is filled 1 M ; The third test tube is filled HCl 2 M 4. Into Mg in each test tube in the some time 5. Calculate of time needed reaction of HCl and Mg II. The Surface Area 1. Take 1 gram of powder and crystal of CaCO3 them put into test tube 2. Add 10 mL HCl solution 1 M into each test tube 3. Record the time needed by CaCO3 to react with HCl

Basic Theory : The rate of a chemical reaction is influenced by : its concentration ,

III.

The Temperature 1. Put 25 mL Na2S2O3 ( 0,2 M ) into two measure glass 2. Heat first measure glass until the temperature increase 100C 3. Then raise from burner of syrtus and is located at a table that in measure glass thats a paper with X mark 4. Doing the same work with the second glass but without burner firstly 5. Add 5 mL HCl ( 1 M ) into two measure glass in the same time 6. Record the time as X mark in the paper disappear

Result : I. The Concentration PROOF TABLE Reactant Mg + HCL 0,1 M Mg + Hcl 0,5 M Mg + HCl 1 M Time of reaction (s) > 3600 312 48
