Renalds: Reporter for the New York Times. Has a reputation for being very ambitious when pursuing a story. (main protagonist) Senator Ralph Edmonds: Presidential candidate with questionable moral standings. Renalds believes he was behind an assassination of a Saudi Arabian prince Earl Randolf: A Persian Gulf War veteran injured at the battle of Khafji and assigned to a special taskforce. He believes that Senator Edmonds was behind the death of Prince Khalid bin Abdullah and wants to go public with the information. Jeremy Renalds: John's uncle and friend. With the death of John's youngest brother a rift had formed between John and his family. John had poured himself into his education to bury his guilt. His uncle had helped to bridge that rift by bringing him information about his family. Nndor Simon: An analyst at the Department of Defense and ex-colleague of John Renalds. His main role in the story is analyzing the CD that was given to John by Earl Randolf. He is later found dead in his apartment apparently from suicide. Prince Khalid bin Abdullah: The richest man next to the king of Saudi Arabia. He holds the most stock in the weapon contracting company, General Innovation. According to Earl Randolf his assassination was a result of a power grab orchestrated by Senator Ralph Edmonds. Sargent Major Eric Henry: Earl Randolfs friend that he met prior to operation Renegade. He was later murdered for investigating the real motivation behind the operation. Through means unknown he was able to obtain a CD containing information about the operation. Earl Randolf found the CD on him after his death.
