Chromite bearing ultrabasic rocks occur in places from Bihar on the north to Madras on the south extending on a region of nearly a thousand miles. The major chromite deposits of this region are either late magmatic segregations which formed the banded ores of Bihar and madras, or late magmatic injections giving rise to the chromites of Orissa and andbra Pradesh.
