Dear Parents, Hello! I am Amanda Peterson and I would like to take the time to introduce myself to you. I will be student teaching in Mrs. Shapiros 1st grade classroom this semester. This means that I will be in her classroom every day. I will be participating in the classroom by assisting students and Mrs. Shapiro in any way I can, leading small groups, teaching lessons and eventually taking over her class toward the end of the school year. I am a graduate of Hinsdale South High School in Darien, IL and I am currently a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I have always wanted to be a teacher because I love to teach and I really enjoy helping students reach the next level in their own educational journeys. I know that I will learn a lot from this experience, but I plan to also positively affect your childrens learning this semester. While at the University of Illinois, I have learned several techniques for teaching and I became aware of many of the current trends in education. I know that this knowledge will help me to enhance and further your childrens education this semester. I am really looking forward to working with your children these next few months. They seem like an incredibly bright and excited group of students that I will learn a lot from. I hope to meet you at some point this semester so that we can foster a relationship that helps your children to excel even farther! If you need to contact me, you may email me at peterso4@illinois.edu or call (708) 482-2525. Sincerely, Amanda Peterson
