Pemanfaatan Vinasse-Limbah Industri Alkohol - Untuk Perbaikan Sifat Fisik Tanah Dalam Pengembangan Tebu (Saccharum Officinarum L) Di Lahan Pasir Pantai M. Zulfan Arrodli1), Muhartini2) , Taryono2) 1)Mahasiswa S1 Agronomi Fakultas Pertanian UGM 2)Pengajar Fakultas Pertanian UGM Email : taryono@faperta.ugm.ac.id Abstract Sandy coastal area is categorized as marginal land which is considered as unsuitable for agriculture due to its soil properties does not support plant growth, but on the other hand there is vi nasse which is ethanol industrial wast in huge amount close to the area, has undesirable odor and contains huge amount of organic matter, therefore when vinasse is discharged to open land resulting in a number of environmental, water soil pollution. The use of vinasse to improve soil properties without casuing the negative impact might be worked it o ut on sandy soil of sandy coastal area. In this reseaach therefore the effect of the application of vinasse will be evaluat ed on sugarcane grow on sandy coastal area. Pot experiment approach using 4 x 4 factorial combination treatments was a rranged in completely randomized design with 3 replications. The experiment result showed that the vinasse applic ation especially at the dosage of 60.000 L/ha is able to improve water holding capacity. The application of vinasse until 60.000 L/ha did not reduce the sugarcane growth. There was a tendency of positive effect through better plant height, dia meter, root and shoot dry weight at harvest, though the effect was not statistically different.
