10 Essential Tips for Designing the Perfect Stockroom

Many retailers have stockroom issues that restrict and hamper their business we solve their problems with our unique storage designs making the most of all the available space, here are 10 helpful tips to help you achieve the perfect stockroom. 1. Use the all of the height available, racking can be easily be installed up to 3m high to greatly improve storage capacity Design racking and shelving to suit the size of the stock units - use different shelf depths for your stock to minimize wasted space. Choose a shelf size to suit multiples of the stock items e.g. Shoe boxes are around 200mm wide and 6 stacks fit perfectly on a 1220mm wide shelf. Consider how many users will need access to the stockroom at the same time then allow wide enough aisles and walkways to suit. Retain space for receiving and processing stock deliveries a simple prep bench and goods-in area makes life easier and stops items from being left on the floor. Avoid overlapping shelving runs as dead corners are difficult to access. Design the correct type of shelving for the stock being stored e.g. pigeon holes for shirts, hanging rails for suits and dresses. Aim to use the widest shelf possible a wide shelf aperture will allow a greater combination of box sizes 1220mm is the most efficient size for cost and space. Use double depth shelving as this is more cost effective than two single runs back to back.
