Description of Classroom: Most of the students in this third grade classroom are Hispanic and the majority of them are girls. Background: The students have previously been exposed to guided readings and the book is at their instructional level. Content Objective(s): The students will read the book, Diary of a Fly fluently. Language Objective(s): Students will read aloud for fluency and be able to decode words. Nevada Standards: 3.RFS.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words 3.RFS.4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension Key Vocabulary: Regurgitated undigested food; already been chewed Accomplished completed; done

Teaching Strategies: Students are going to read aloud to me and Ill read along with them silently.

Warm Up Activity: I will activate prior knowledge by asking what they know of flies and then we will discuss the main idea. Lesson Sequence: 1. I will conduct the warm up activity. 2. Students are going to read aloud, while they are reading I will listen for miscues. 3. When we come upon miscues, we will go back and reread the word and I will teach them about that.

Accommodations: Rereading the page if theres a misunderstanding. Increase or decrease pacing.

Supplementary Materials: Book, Diary of a Fly by Doreen Cronin & 5 multiple copies

Review/Assessment: Students will reread a page that they had difficulty with. After reading the entire book, they will do time-pair-share and discuss what they liked about the book Reflection:
