1. Explain with proper reason, whether or not Ans:- i) The collection of all good singers is not a set because this collection is not well defined. The characteristic good cannot be measured objectively. ii) The set of points on a line is not finite because infinitely many points make straight line.

2. Show that for any two propositions p and q, ~ (p v q) Ans:p q ~p ~q p^q T T F F T T F F T T F T F F T F F F T F

~p

~q. ~p F F F T

~(p^q) F F F T

3. State the laws of groups with examples from the set of integers. Ans:Let's use (Z,+) as our example group. Groups are closed. For any n,m Z, n + m Z. Groups have associativity. For any n,m,p Z, (n + m) + p = n + (m + p). Groups have an identity element. For any n Z, there exists 0 Z such that n + 0 = 0 + n = n. Groups have inverse elements. For any n Z, there exists -n Z such that n + (-n) = 0, where 0 is the identity element of (Z,+).

4. Prove that the sum of the degrees of the points of a graph G is twice the number of lines. Ans:Proof: Let G be a (p, q) graph. Every line of G is incident with two points. Hence everyline gives 2 to the sum of the degrees of the points. Hence deg vi= 2q
