1) There is negligible difference between the min bend radius of a steel core rope and a fibre core rope.
2) There is very little difference in price between a steel core rope and a fibre core rope.
3) Steel core ropes are slightly stronger than fibre core ropes, because they have slightly more steel, ie
they have a steel centre.
4) The old wire rope code, BS302 : 1987, has now been superseded by the code BS EN 12385 : 2002,
P4. Steel Wire Ropes. Safety `Standard Ropes for General Lifting Purposes.
5) Rigging suppliers often use Steel Core, 6 X 19, Grade 1770.
