Patricia Polacco was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1944. She grew up with her grandparents because of her parents divorce, and claims that being around both elderly people and children helped her learn a lot about life. She says that living with her grandparents was the most valuable experience of her life! What is very interesting about Patricia, is that she has a learning disability called dyslexia. She learned to deal with her disability and actually did not look at it as a disability it all, but just as a different way of learning. She went to college and graduated with a Fine Art degree. She is now very serious about her writing and attends seminars on a regular basis!
