Q7: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Photography

I used manual focus over for a lot of my photos because I liked the effect of the background being blurred and the model being in focus.

This is the layering pane which allowed me to achieve the effect.

One of the techniques I used during making the my media product was showing how I put the photos on my magazine together, for example the small Polaroid shots I used to the bottom left hand corner of my double page spread. I found that layering my photos on top of each other suggested a preferred meaning of scattered photographs, maybe on a girls dressing table.

Other technique I used was to adjust the brightness/darkness of the photos. I found this useful as one of my images was a little too dark and it affected the quality of my photo. After adjusting the brightness the quality of my photo was increased to a good standard.

Another technique I used was to make the main image overlap some of the magazine name. I found that most magazines I looked at use this technique a lot when editing the front page.

This is the layering panel that allowed me to create this effect.

Another technique I used was creating text behind other text to make the page seem more interesting. I made speech marks and then enlarged them and also change the opacity so they look almost invisible. I then placed them behind the small paragraphs to give it more of a effect instead of just having the speech marks with the paragraphs.
