There are many similarities between what FDR did and what President Obama wants to accomplish. There are many similarities in the in these two presidents. When I was reading this I was thinking of all the stimulus and mortgage packages that the government has developed in order to save the country from a complete financial collapse. There is a desperate need right now in America for jobs and less government spending. It is vital that the politicians and policys taken affect be governed and closely monitored. In 1934, FDR organized the Share-Our-Wealth Society. His plan to end poverty and unemployment called for confiscatory taxes on the rich to provide every family with a decent income, health coverage, education, and old-age pensions. Longs appeal was enormous. Within months, his organization claimed more than 27,000 clubs and 7 million members1. If this action plan were to be taken I think we could be in better place.
