Mobius Loop

What is it?
The mobius loop, is a symbol, used on packaging to show it is recyclable it is used on things like crisp packets and chocolate bars to show that some parts of the packaging are recyclable and if it is on a toy, that the toy is also.

When and why was it made?


The Mobius Loop was invented on the first ever Earth Day in 1969. This was so that there could be world-wide attention towards environmental issues around the Globe. In order to design the symbol, the Container Corporation of America held an art contest. This was won by 23 year old Gary Anderson, who made the Mobius Loop.

Where is it used?
The Mobius Loop is often put onto surfaces of items that use recycling. For example- a plastic/paper recycling bin. As well as this, the Mobius Loop is put onto Packaging to show that the product inside the Packaging is recyclable.
