PREPAID ELECTRICITY BILLING SYSTEM

USING ZIGBEE
AIM:
Zigbee project is to design equipment for reading the power meter values. Here the equipment is a wireless device this can be done by using zigbee.

DESCRIPTION:
Electric meters are typically calibrated in billing units, the most common one being the kilowatt hour. ZigBee is a specification for a suite of high level communication protocols using small, low-power digital radios for wireless personal area networks (WPANs), such as wireless headphones connecting with cell phones via short-range radio. The technology defined by the ZigBee specification is intended to be simpler and less expensive with a frequency of 2.4 GHZ. It is a transceiver. In this project we are mainly concerned about the power meter reading. The main concept behind this is the wireless power meter senses This project is useful for billing purpose in Electricity board. In this project the Zigbee unit is interfaced with the Energy meter of each house. Every house has a separate number, which is given by the corresponding authority. The ZIGBEE unit is fixed in the energy meter. The current keeps varying that is when the energy consumed is more is senses and ask to shut down the equipments. An electric meter or energy meter is a device that measures the amount of electrical energy consumed by a residence, business, or an electricallypowered device. The main aim is that we have to monitor the energy consumption. Its

acts as a transmitter as well as a receiver. Here the current sensor senses the current and it is sent to the PIC. Through Zigbee we are transferring the data serially. There is a receiver which receives this information from Zigbee.
