You can say that voltage is the force causing the electrons to flow through a wire.

That is why voltage is sometimes referred to as (EMF) which means electro motive force. It is the force which motivates the electrons to flow. Voltage is that which causes the current to flow. So more voltage gives you more current.

As the electrons flow through the wire they bumped into the other atoms of the wire and are slowed down. The flow of electrons is impeded by the material of the wire itself. Electrical resistance is that which opposes the flow of current. Therefore we can say that if there is more resistance then the current will be less. So, the current is inversely proportional to the resistance. Mathematically we can write like this I proportional to 1 R
