REASONING FROM PRINCIPLE -can also be called a deductive reasoning. It is reasoning based on a general statement that is assumed to be true.

For example, if man is mortal, and captain America is a man, then captain America is mortal.

REASONING FROM SPECIFIC INSTANCES -is also called inductive reasoning. It involves taking specific cases of observed fact and looking for generalizations that can represent all cases. For example, if captain America is dead and captain America was a man, then man can die.
