Project 15262EZ:

Spaghetti Measure
Trying to judge how much spaghetti to prepare for the family dinner is usually a guessing game at best, and more often than not the cook makes much more than anybody hope to eat. Now heres help: a gauge that tells exactly how much spaghetti to serve for one, two, or for portions. Ours is made from red oak, but just about any wood from your scrap box can be used. Its an easy project to make, so if you are looking for something to sell at craft fairs or gift shops, you may want to consider this one.

Spaghetti Measure Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Select or cut a piece of 1/2" thick stock that measures about 3-1/2" wide x 15" long. 2. Transfer the profile from the grid pattern to the stock. 3. Cut out the profile with a band or saber saw. 4. Lay out the hole location before drilling the holes to the diameters shown. 5. Use a spade bit to cut the 7/8" hole. 6. Use an expandable bit to cut the 1-1/8" and 1-1/2" holes. 7. Use a hole cutter to cut the 1-3/4" hole. 8. Add a 3/8 inch hanger hole. 9. Sand thoroughly, rounding all corners and edges. 10. Apply a coat of Behlen Salad Bowl Finish for an attractive non-toxic finish. These plans were originally published in Volume 6, Issue 5 of The Woodworkers Journal (Sept./Oct. 1982, page 43).
