Labour seasonal and social grant dependency High unemployment rate : May-September Migration/evictions from farms Skills shortage, 36 % illiteracy SLOW GROWER(3-5%) To Reduce the number of indigent households by providing bridges to employment for all those who want work Creating opportunities for young people to empower themselves Improving the skills and capacity of women and womens groups especially those active within poverty pockets and on farms;

grow the local economy in order to increase opportunities for participation and equity in EPWP and CWP

The White Paper on Local Government provides the context and the direction for the role of municipalities in economic development. The White Paper says: Local Government is not directly responsible for creating jobs, BUT must create the environment Make the New Economic Growth Path Plan with the focus on targeted job opportunities a reality!!

SMALL, MEDIUM, MICRO ENTERPRISE TRAINING (SMME) Gender representivity is as follows: adult males 44; adult females 43; female youth 4 and male youth 10.
ASSISTANCE TO CO-OPS Gender representivity is as follows adult male 25, adult female 47, youth female 9 and youth male 12. SKILLS DEVELOPMENT Agri-Tourism Training 19 local youth were involved

The municipality is implementing a Service delivery plan which is the implementation plan with the time frame from 1 July 2010 until 30 June 2011. This Gender programmes implementation time frame is from 1 July 2010 until 31 December 2011.

CREATIVITY: ARE YOU USING ARTS, CULTURE, MEDIA AND SOCIAL MEDIA TO POPULARISE THE ISSUES?
The municipality make regular use of the municipal newsletter, local news papers and the Community radio station, Valley FM to populate these LED initiatives.
Due to the successful implementation of the PA Hamlet programme the municipality were having three series on Agri-TV on SABC 2.

Witzenberg LED Forum (support & mentoring) SMME Forums in each of the major towns to ensure that the second economy entrepreneurs be move to the first economy of Witzenberg. Ongoing support from governments but crafting our Investment & Integrated Tourism plans to create our own Economic opportunities LED can be implemented in any environment because our people needs jobs

Our Constitutional Mandate To lead Vulnerable groups to self reliance Create an enabling environment for formal and informal businesses Strong intergovernmental relationships is critical WE CAN RESTORE HOPE AND DIGNITY!!!
