To Be Human

by: Matthew J. Koharchick

We are, each of us, humans of a unique individuality. Many of us strive and seek the development of our own singularity, to leave our own personal thumbprint upon the world. It is, however, the pack, the pride, the pod, the group that fulfills the soul. The touch of skin, the pressure of the embrace, the reassurances that we are loved, trusted, and accepted with all of our senses. Though our intelligence needs to be tested and our ego needs to be respected, our heart craves love and compassion above all else. It is only when there is a feeling of contentment, can a true feeling of self worth be found. We are intelligent, social, and mortal creatures. Our intelligence may drive us and our mortality may end us, but it is our socialization that keeps us.
