The Aluminum Company of Egypt, Egyptlalum Is public entity that started its operation in 1975 Egyptalum smelter is located

about 110km north of Luxor. The production capacity had been developed over the years to reach its current level of 320 thousands tons/year Egyptalum may be considered as an integrated company with its 12 pot rooms, cast houses hot and cold rolling and extrusion plants Egyptalum produces ingots slabs billets wire rods T-bars rolled and extruded products a new foil mill will be established in the next few years. Egypt Aluminum Company (Egyptalum) was founded in 1976 as a shareholding company affiliated to the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries. It currently operates under the provisions of Law number 203 of 1991. Egypt Aluminum is mainly engaged in the production and export of aluminum products and by-products. The Company operates a complex at Nag Hammady, 100 kilometers north of Luxor. The complex covers 6.3 million square meters of industrial area and comprises a smelter plant, a casting house. According to audited financial statement for the Year of 2009, total net operating revenues decreased with -28.20%, from EGP 4,471,802 thousands to EGP 3,210,640 thousands. The results of the period decreased -83.89% reaching EGP 145,962 thousands at the end of the period against EGP 906,275 thousands last year. Return on equity (Net income/Total equity) went from 21.58% to 3.89%, the Return On Asset (Net income / Total Asset) went from 12.93% to 2.17% and the Net Profit Margin (Net Income/Net Sales) went from 20.27% to 4.55% when compared to the same period of last year. The Debt to Equity Ratio (Total Liabilities/Equity) was 79.13% compared to 66.87% of last year. Finally, the Current Ratio (Current Assets/Current Liabilities) went from 1.65 to 1.20 when compared to the previous year.
