ABSTRACT

Poetry is the rhythmic expression of emotion, thought, and philosophy. Poetry is of many types and metaphysical poetry is one of them. This sort of poetry is the expression of such thought and logic those are beyond the physical senses. John Donne, Herbert, Vaughan, Crashaw and Marvel were the pioneers of metaphysical poetry. Among them Henry Vaughan and his poetry charms me lot. He was born in 1621 and died in 1695. But his life spam can never judge his eternity in the world. Because, he is physically dead but his contribution to literature especially in poetry is beyond description. As a student of English literature, I like metaphysical poetry. In the evaluation of metaphysical poetry, the contribution of Vaughan cuts my attention lot. This is why I have chosen him for my seminar research. The title of my research is HENRY VAUGHAN: HIS CONTRIBUTION TO METAPHYSICAL POETRY. In my seminar paper, Ill write an introduction showing what shall be inside the paper, and then Ill go for a simple biography of Vaughan. Finally Ill show the core factor of my research that will consist the poetic activity, promotion of the dimension of metaphysical poetry, judgment of his contribution to the improvement in the field of metaphysical poetry.
