VoIP as a communication tool for businesses

Background Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a form of communication that makes it possible to make phone calls over a broadband internet connection instead of typical analog telephone lines. Interconnected VoIP services allow users to make and receive calls to and from traditional landline numbers, usually for a service fee. Globally, VoIP is becoming an attractive communications option for consumers. Because of lower fees of the basic broadband service and the increased penetration of internet, VoIP usage is expected to gain popularity with time. Contribution In our term paper we plan to study various advantages and the risks associated with VoIP and how can VoIP with its various features, serve as an effective communication tool for businesses, providing them with benefits over the analog telephone lines. In addition to that well also study the risks associated with adopting VoIP and how these risks can be mitigated. Then we will give an overview of its implementation in the Indian context.
