Packaging, Delivery and Storage

Caustic Soda Solution is transported via railcar or road tanker. Above 25 and for long storC age times, Caustic Soda Solution should be kept away from air. If exposed to air, Caustic Soda Solution will pick up carbon dioxide to form sodium carbonate, which may cause haze of the solution. In order to prevent carbonate formation, storage vessels should have minimized exposure to air, but a venting possibility to equilibrate pressure during unloading or transfer processes. Heatable storage containers for Caustic Soda Solution are recommended in order to prevent crystallization during the cold season. Caustic Soda Solution starts to freeze at temperatures as high as 10-12 When stored C. properly under the conditions recommended, Caustic Soda Solution has a virtually unlimited shelf life.

General Information
Safety data, transport information and toxicological data are provided in the current EU safety data sheet. Some applications for this product can be subject to national and / or international standards (food additives, wastewater treatment, in the Pharmaceutical Industry,..). The customer is solely liable for ensuring that all existing patents and regulations are respected applicable to our products and their applications. We assume that NaOH 50% is free from organic traces/impurities. Caustic soda is produced in a complete inorganic and closed process. Furthermore the rail tank waggons are used for transportation of NaOH only. For road tank cars and ship tanks we arrogate an applicable cleaning certificate before filling them with NaOH. All traces and impurities can be seen from our standard delivery specification.

Food Compliance
NaOH 50% fulfils the criteria of purity for food additives according to ZusatzstoffZulassungsverordnung (ZZulV), ZusatzstoffVerkehrs-Verordnung (ZVerkV), Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) and of products for water treatment concerning to human applications referred to DIN EN 896. NaOH is registered within the EU as a food additive E 524. Diluting NaOH 50% you strictly have to aviod procedures where microorganisms could be transported into the product (e.g. using cleaned and sterile containers/vessels, sterile pure VE-water, short time storages, convenient temperature etc.).
