CANEWSLEUWER | conse of All Nations - Repulse Bay, Hong Kong Summer 2012 SENDING THEM OFF... ‘The months of May and June often mark the time when people plan on transitions, especially to new locations. High school seniors are thinking ahead to college and university, while fami- lies leaving Hong Kong are wondering about the next location they'll be assigned. Transitions like this may be the norm for us in Hong Kong, but it’s still never easy. On Sunday, 10 June, also known as “Sending Sunday,” we will recognize all who are de- parting. We emphasize the word “sending” as we feel that all of us go out into the world as, ‘eptesentative members of the body of Christ, and of the Church of All Nations. For those leaving for more permanent destinations than a summer holiday retreat, we will remember your value to the parish as we think of you as “Members Abroad.” We also plan to keep you in- formed about what's happening in Hong Kong... particularly in the way of mission and min- istry. We hope that you will keep us regularly in your thoughts and prayers, as we will you. Again, Sending Sunday is on 10 June, with just one worship service at our summer wor- ship time of 9:30 a.m., then a special dim sum luncheon (and hot dogs for the kids) given in honor of those departing CAN this summer. The luncheon is being catered, compliments of ‘our Board of Outreach and Fellowship. ‘Those we know leaving Hong Kong this summer (or who have already left) include: Sue Bowden Cindy Canter Mike, Edlyn & Joyann Jenkins (already moved) Susan Johnson (already moved) Gary & Karen Kirschke (moving Sending Sunday weekend) Bambi, Joaquin & Julia LaPuz Kathy Manuel Jeff, Lisa, Annabelle & Matthew Richert Greg, Michelle & Declan Sawyer Mike, Thais, Jack & Zoe Stamatopoulos Scott, Candace, Skylar & Austin Stephenson Those graduating and moving on to university study include: Sarina Daniels, Jackie Ewing. Carmen Kirschke, Janae Leese and John Strohschein. See you June 10"! P.S. Please let us know if your name(s) has/have been inadvertently left off the list...or even if the above information is incorrect! (See photos on the following page of some of those being sent...) IN THIS SUMMER ISSUE OF CAN’S NEWSLETTER June 2012 is upon us...already! A lot of activities are drawing to a close, especially events related to [church and school. Many of you are preparing for exams, graduation and summer travel. Others will Jalso move to new locations and surroundings. Worship services will continue faithfully throughout the Isummer (see the schedule printed elsewhere), but we will be taking a break with our newsletter commu- nication until late August/early September. Be sure to check out the latest news and photos of happen- ings around CAN, and let us know if we can add your name and address to our mailing list. WORSHIP SCHEDULE The month of May saw added highlights to the Easter season with Youth Confirmation Sunday and the THKIS Upper Primary Choir singing at late service on May 20" as well as the celebration of Pentecost on [May 27°. Sending Sunday worship takes place on June 10", as we begin our summer schedule that day. See you at worship! The summer worship service time will again be set for 9:30 am,, a “middle-ground” time between our Iwo normal morning service times, and the same time as the last eight summers. The 9:30 a.m. service provides for an early start time and helps to avoid some of the beach traffic in Repulse Bay. ...but it’s not so early that it discourages those traveling from greater distances than Tai Tam, Stanley and Repulse Bay.
