The name of the organisation shall be “Bangor University Labour Group” in the English language and "Grp Llafur Prifysgol Bangor’ in the Welsh language. 1.2. The English- and Welshlanguage names of the organisation shall be held as equally valid, applicable and permissible. 1.3. Hereinafter, the organisation shall be referred to as “the society’. . Affiliation 2.1. The society shall be recognised by Bangor University Students’ Union 2.2. The society shall be affiliated to the national body recognised by the Labour Party to represent students known as Labour Students. . Objective 3.1. The society shall exist to promote the values of democracy, equality, collectivism and social justice 3.2. The society shall apply these values in the pursuit of a better deal for students and forall sectors of the society in which we live. 3.3. The society shall not limit itself to pursuing its goals within the Students’ Union but also on campus, in the North Wales area and in the United Kingdom as a whole. 3.4, The society shall comply with the Students’ Union's non-partisan stance and shall not use any Students’ Union materials, funds or resources for the promotion of any political party. |. Membership 4.1. The society shall be open to both ordinary and affiliate members of the Students’ Union. Affliate members shall not make up more than 25% of the society's membership 4.2. The membership shall support and accept the objectives of the society. 4.3. In accepting membership, a person agrees to abide by the constitution and the rulings of the society in addition to the rulings of the society's, committee. 4.4, Membership fees shall be stipulated by the Annual General Meeting (AGM). 4.4.1. The fee set for society membership is £2 per annum. . Society's committee 5.1. Shall be comprised of the following elected officers: 1.1. Chairperson 5.12. Secretary 5.1.3. Treasurer 5.1.4. Women's Officer 5.1.5. Communications Officer 5.1.6. Vice Chairperson (x2) 51.7. Equaltes Officer Campaigns Officer 5.2 And the following non elected officers: 5.2.1. CLP Lialson(as required) 5.2.1.1. — may be appointed by the chairperson as required 5.2.2. Duties of elected officers 5.3.1. To manage the society. 5.3.2. To receive membership applications and process them. The Society Chairperson in addition to their duties stated in Appendix 11: Societies shall: 6.1.1. Chair all General Meetings of the society and all meetings of the society's committee, 6.1.2. Be responsible for guiding the activities of the society as expressed by the majority of its members. 6.1.3. Represent or arrange for representation of the society at meetings of Labour Students, the Constituency Labour Party and other organisations 6.1.4. Be responsible for reporting the work of the society's committee to the AGM, 6.1.5. Appoint officers to liaise with CLPs (5.1.9) 6.16. Isa signatory to the society's accounts (9) 6.2. The Secretary, in addition to their duties stated in Appendix 11:Societies, shall: 6.2.1. Organise all General Meetings of the society and all meetings of the society's committee, 6.2.2. Take minutes at all society meetings and archive them. 6.2.3. Ensure all financial committee decisions are minuted. 6.3. The Treasurer, in addition to their duties stated in Schedule 8: Societies, shall: 6.3.1. Keep a receipt book of all membership fees and other monies taken, 6.3.2._ Be responsible for lodging all society monies with the Students’ Union Finance Office 6.3.3. Be responsible for purchases agreed by the committee but shall have the power to reject expenditure from the society account. 6.3.4. Be responsible for signing off all society expenditure in line with Students Union Finance procedures. 6.35. Present a financial report to the AGM showing the financial state of the society, 6.36. Be responsible for preparing the grant application to be presented to the Communication and Societies Officer at the end of the year. 3.7. Keep a record of all society members . Shall be responsible for membership fee collection. .9. Assist the secretary in his/her duties when required, especially in financial matters 6.3.10.|s a signatory to the society's accounts (9) 6.4. Ensure the committee provides equal opportunity to women members in all aspects of the societies work 6.4.3. The Women Officer may also hold the post of Equalities Officer should the position be vacant 6.5. The Communications Officer shall, 6.5.1. Ensure the communication between the Society and its membership is maintained. 6.5.2. Produce, promote and maintain the publication of the Society's promotional material, and website. 6.6. The Vice Chairperson shall 6.6.1. Assist the chairperson in his/her duties as chair. 6.6.2. Where applicable, to take over duties of chair as applicable to circumstances. 6.6.3. Due to practical requirements, the position of Vice Chair can be held by a current committee member. joint responsibility can be held 6.7. The Equalities Officer shall, 6.7.1. Ensure the SU guidelines relating to equality and opportunities are maintained and implemented. 6.7.2. Assist and/or take over the duties of the Women’s Officer when should the position be vacant 6.8. The Campaigns Officer shall, 6.8.1. Identify non-political campaigns the society could be involved in around campus, locally andnationally 6.8.2. Liaise with organisations and the Students Union in relation to campaigns 6.9. The CLP Liaison Officers shall, 6.9.1. Attend CLP events, meeting and functions 6.9.2. Report back on CLP activity to the committee 6.10, TheNon-€xecutive Officer shall, 6.10.1. Assist the appointing officer as required . Election of Officers 7:1. Officers shall be elected annually at the AGM and hold post for one year between September - August. 7.2. Nomination forms shall be available from the Secretary 14 days before the AGM, 7.3. Candidates shall submit nominations in writing prior to the AGM 7.4, Only full members in accordance with 4 are eligible to be elected 7.5. Each officer shall be elected by simple majority 7.6. For the role of Women’s Officer, only women members will be allowed to nominate and vote. 7.7. Officers may only hold one position (apart from Vice Chair, see 6.6.3 and Women’s Officer, see 6.4.3), in the event a person is elected to more than one position said person must resign a positions. 7.8. Vacant positions as a result of a lack of an appropriate candidate or as a result of 7.6 are subject to a by-election which may be called by the committee or left vacant 7.9. The positions of Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer may not beleft vacant. 7.10. Current officers are eligible for re-election 7.11. __ Once elected in an AGM elected officers will shadow current officers until they take up their post in September
