-Creating Solid using curve Xiang Li

Objectives: After completing this tutorial, you will be able to: Sketch curve surface modeling using boundary blend Mirror curve Mirror surface Merge surfaces Create a solid from surface using solidify command.

UMass-Lowell PTC Partnership Procedure s: 1. Click to Sketch a curve on front datum plane.

Fig.1 2. Click to sketch the second curve on right datum plane. Using the first sketch curve as reference will be easy to snap the endpoint to the end of the first sketch.

Fig.2 3. Select the second sketch curve, then click , select the front datum plane as mirror plane. Then you will get the third curve.

Fig.3 4. Click located on the right bottom of the screen, click the curve 2 firstly, holding CTRL key and select curve 1 and curve 3. On the dashboard, tab to Edge Alignment. Set both the first curve and last curve normal to right datum plane as shown in Fig.4.b. Now you get a surface looks like Fig.4.c

Fig.4.c 5. Select the new surface, then click , select the right datum plane as mirror plane.

Select the two surfaces, and then click to merge the two surfaces to one surface. Select the merged surface, go to Edit->Solidify to generate a solid feature. Hide the three curves by right clicking the curve on model tree and selecting hide. Go to View-> Color and Apperence, new a color and then apply to the part.
