National news periodicals( eg. Time, Newsweek) purpose: to develop a sociological eye using sociological tools- the sociological imagination, theory, and research- and to practice critical thinking skills. format; minimum two pages ,double space. in the paper include both a brief summary of the article and critical response. summary: demonstrate your knowledge of the article and the connection of the article to course material and concepts. critical response: critic or analyze a argument or point made by the author. why is this point or argument relevant? make reasoned judgments- critically evaluate and assess the reading based on evidence and information. for the summary do not repeat all details of the article, but narrow your focus to the author's central argument and most significant claims. for the critical thinking, avoid common sense, unsupported opinion, and overgeneralizations. for th conclusion, it has to answer the question"so what", why is your argument important?
