With FCEA you will have no representation Once FCEA is our recognized union; the amount of dues will be at 1%. The monies collected will provide the funding needed to cover staff, office space and supplies. FCEA will truly be member-driven and will ensure that each member will have representation. This will guarantee that member issues will not slip through the cracks. What happens with the existing PERB charge if we go into a decertification of SEIU? Depending on the timing of all of this, if SEIU is decertified, and FCEA is certified as the bargaining rep, then FCEA will immediately move to amend the charge, or at least to intervene in the action as the "new" bargaining rep. Ive heard that the County may try to reduce our wages and benefits if we decertify? The fact is that the County is already proposing additional wage and benefit reductions. The County proposed the additional bargaining concessions to SEIU on May 8th, several weeks prior to us filing our decertification petition. What can you do to help with our decertification effort? First, stay informed by attending our informational meetings. Second, continue to sign our petitions. Its important for the County and SEIU to know that there is strong employee support for a fair election. Tell SEIU that you wont stand for any attempts to deny us a fair election and that you dont agree with them using our dues to fight the efforts of Unit 4 members to have a free choice. Lastly, join with us to help ensure that Unit 4 members get the strong representation which we deserve!
