Touch, Fox TV

Tim Kring, creator and writer The 36 humble righteous ones* - Jake's 'self-aware' of his importance and his purpose; and he's possibly acting (with the assistance of his father, Martin) to bring them all together: Jake left a flower-message for one young girl, so that she would know that she is not alone. Adults who know of and understand Jake's importance and his purpose are doing, with great courage, all that they can possibly do, to help in that purpose, through trust in the boy, alone. There is apparently another "team" of adults who know about the children's abilities, but perhaps do not understand their purpose. Or maybe they do. This "other team" represents the power-elite of the way-things-are, the old ways, and are interested in keeping things just as they are, at any cost. Making themselves more powerful along the way, if they can. Jake's voice-over Touch - Season Finale - "Gyre"

There are 31,530,000 seconds in a year, a thousand milliseconds in a second, a million microseconds, a billion nanoseconds. And the one constant connecting nanoseconds to years is change. The universe, from atom to galaxy, is in a perpetual state of flux. But we humans dont like change; we fight it, it scares us. So we create the illusion of stasis. We want to believe in a world at rest, the world of right now, yet our great paradox remains the same. The moment we grasp the now that now is gone. We cling to snapshots, but life is moving pictures, each nanosecond different from the last. Time forces us to grow, to adapt because every time we blink our eyes the world shifts beneath our feet. Electrons bump into each other and react; people collide and alter each others paths. Change isnt easy, more often its wrenching and difficult, but maybe thats a good thing, because its change that makes us strong, keeps us resilient, and teaches us to evolve.

Its scariness... Yes, changes in our own personal lives often can be, and are, wrenching and disturbing to our plans and expectations. A move far across the country, from one coast to the other, for example. But the ordinary dislocations of our mundane lives may not be the kind of change Touch is addressing, here.

On the scale that Touch deals with in every episode, and implied in the tension between the two "teams" as outlined, above, it is a global change Jake speaks of. A global link-up between every living human being, all moving to facilitate the growth, love, and healing of others. We've been seeing that going on, on every episode, even far from Jake's life and influence. It's an ongoing shift in the entire world of human interaction. The fear, and the evolution, he means, is that touching of all human life; and how that will effect a global-size change, in everything about human culture and values. Keep in mind one key thing about this great shift of how people will live: at its core is love. ________________________ *Mystical Hasidic Judaism [from the www] It is said that at all times there are 36 special people in the world, and that were it not for them ... the world would come to an end. Jewish tradition holds that their identities are unknown to each other, and that, if one of them comes to a realization of their true purpose then they may die and their role is immediately assumed by another person.

In our folk tales, they emerge from their self-imposed concealment and, by the mystic powers which they possess, they succeed in averting the threatened disasters of a people persecuted by the enemies that surround them. ... On very rare occasions, one of them is 'discovered' by accident, in which case the secret of their identity must not be disclosed.
"...every Jew should act as if he or she might be one of them; i.e., lead a holy and humble life and pray for the sake of fellow human beings."
