About downhill
Downhill cycling is a form which is to go down as soon as

possible a given distance. One embodiment of the Mountain Bike born in California in the second half of the 70s. In Portugal the sport had its origin in Leiria and has since expanded throughout the country

The downhill track is more technical with the inclusion

of narrow paths, stones, and double obstacles composed of ramps. Pilots have difficulties when they encounteralong the track roots, ditches, erosion and mud.

Protections for downhill


The athletes of this modality use

various protections for the falls in Downhill are notsmall and can be hurt easily. Wear a helmet with protection for the chin and neck, ankle own modality, knee pads, often in conjunction with the shin guards, elbowguards and chest and back.

Appropriate bicycle
Currently there are thought to practice downhill,

especially in competitions without a bicycle with a frame ready to withstand severe impacts, with suspensions of at least 180mm travel both in the front and rear wheel, disc brake hydraulic drive and wide tires with soft compounds for added grip to the ground.
