vom 26. Dec. 1787 his zam 14, Febroar 1738 com.
ponirt und am s8. April 1738 zuerst_ in London

Sense was composed in the period from Dec. 26.
1737 to Feb. 14. 1738, and first performed in
London on the 184 April 1738. Aw Malian opera,
about forty or fifty years older, eppears from the
swords and to some extent eren from the music,
to have been used.
The three litle choruses on pp. 27, 72 and 110
‘are soon afterwards (pp. 32, 73 and us) repeated;
and at these latter places the music is printed in
the abridged form in ihich it is found in the con.
ducting score, for the purpose of giving an accurate
picture of Handel precepts for the director.
The notations of alternating Cembeli in the air
on p.87 are only found in the autograph, and are
there all crossed oxt, 50 thet they are not to be taken
as reli Stil I hace inserted them in brackets as
+ being characteristic of Handel's practice.
