Won William Randolph Hearst Foundation State Youth Program Scholarship

An Experienced Attorney
Dan DeKoter has been an attorney at the DeKoter, Thole & Dawson, P.L.C., law firm, previously known as Corcoran, Skiver and Zito. He graduated from Maurice-Orange City High School in 1973 and was a National Merit Finalist. He Won the William Randolph Hearst Foundation Senate Youth Program scholarship, one of two recipients from Iowa that year.

The United States Senate Youth Program was envisioned by William Randolph Hearsts sons namely George R. Hearst and Randolph A. Hearst, who worked with the Senate Leadership to establish the program in 1962.
The Hearst Foundations fund all operational aspects of program, such as college scholarships and yearly grants to the State Department of education to support the selection administration.

From 1977 to 1980, he attended the University of Iowa Law School and graduated in the top 20 percent of his law school class.
He has experience in personal injury and product liability litigation; estate planning, wills and trusts; business litigation; and business law in general. A Martindale-Hubbell AV rated lawyer, Daniel DeKoter is a member of the Sibley Kiwanis Club, part of an organization committed to sponsoring childrens causes throughout the world

Social Work
He serves on the board of Village Northwest Unlimited and East Oaks Estates Property Owners Association.
He has donated a significant amount of money to several libraries, including the George Public Library, the Melvin Public Library, the Sibley Public Library and the Sanborn Public Library.
